Recently I have posted a few pictures of dinners I have made and I had such a huge response and so many people messaging me for the recipes that I figured I would start sharing yummy meals I make on our blog. For those of you who don’t know I am vegan so the recipes will always be 100% vegan, very healthy and a occasionally  they will be raw! I really never intended to have food on my blog as it really has nothing to do with Crave but I figured since so many of you seemed so curious about what I eat I would share! I get a lot of my recipes from my favorite cookbooks and blogs but I usually change them up a bit, especially if they have bell peppers in them because I hate them. This recipe is one I modified from Ani’s Raw Food Essentials. I just recently bought this book and so far everything I have made has been amazing and so quick and easy to make.

I hope you all enjoy this recipe and would love to hear what anyone who make it thinks!!

TOMATO CHILI WITH TACO NUT MEAT

4 cups seeded and chopped tomatoes

1/2 cup chopped celery

1/4 cup chopped yellow onion

1 cup chopped mushroom (any kind)

2/3 cup corn kernels

1-2 teaspoon minced garlic

2 teaspoons chili powder

1 teaspoon ground cumin

¾ teaspoon dried oregano

¼ teaspoon sea salt

1 recipe Taco Nut Meat

Place all ingredients except the nut meat in a mixing bowl and mix well.

The original recipe said to transfer about one-third of the mixture to a high-speed blender and puree and place the puree back in the mixing bowl. But I didn’t blend any of the mixture and it was really good but I am sure it would be good blended as well.

To serve, put into bowls and top with Taco Nut Meat.

TACO NUT MEAT

1 cup walnuts

1 tablespoon extra-virgin olive oil

1 tablespoon ground cumin

2 teaspoons ground coriander

1 teaspoon Bragg Liquid Aminos or Nama Shoyu (or Substitute with your favorite Soy sauce)

¼ teaspoon sea salt, or to taste

Place the walnut in a food processor and process into small pieces. Add the remaining ingredients; pulse to mix well.

Pink, pink, pink!!! One of my favorite makeup trends for spring is a bright pink lip. Fuchsia lips were the look at many of the Spring runway shows like Fendi, Jill Sanders and Diane Von Furstenberg. And latley I have been seeing celebrities like Emma Stone, Kate Bosworth, Jennifer Hudson, Camilla Belle, Rihanna and Cate Blanchett rocking the look and I just love it!

When wearing a bright lip I think it looks best if you keep the rest of your makeup clean and simple. To prevent fading, first line and fill your lips with a nude pencil and then apply the lipstick. Or for a less intense jolt of color, try a sheer gloss in a bright pink shade. This is a makeup look that can look fabulous on anyone no matter what you age or skin tone but the key to wearing this bold look is picking the right shade of pink for your coloring. Always, always, always try the color on your lips, trying it on your hand or just looking at the color in the tube won’t work because you need to see what the color looks like with your natural lip color.

{Outside Crave ready for a night of fun}

Every year the Duncan Chamber of Commerce puts out  nomination forms for the public, through community sponsors, retailers and businesses in the Cowichan Valley.  And local business owners, volunteers and businesses are nominated for The Black Tie of Excellence Awards. Hundreds of nomination forms are filled out every year, and this year I was nominated for Young Entrepreneur of the Year!!! And then the Chamber picked me as one of the three finalists. And then I got invited to the Black Tie Awards Gala which is where I found out I was the WINNER!!!! Thanks to Masika Allen of Pretty Frilly Things for nominating me!

It was such an honor to just be nominated let alone win! The Gala was such a fun night and I had some of my favorite people with me. At my table were my Mum, step-dad Eric, Will, my amazing boyfriend Gary and my three beautiful and wonderful employees Rebecca, Ashta and Sarah! Crave would not be what it is today without all of the support of my amazing employees, family, and friends. And Crave really would not exist without Josh and Nadine Eror who have believed in me and my vision since it was just words on paper and thoughts in my head! I am  also very lucky to have the greatest customers any business could ask for, Crave would not have been able to grow to what it is today without the love and support of all of you!
