Alderlea Farm-CSA
May 17th, 2011 . by CortnieToday was a great day!! Not only was it a beautiful sunny day but I also got to go pick up my first bag of veggies from Alderlea Farm. Alderlea Farm and Cafe is an amazing community farm that grows bio-dynamic and organic food. This is their seventh year doing the CSA (Community Supported Agriculture) program and I am so glad Gary and I got in on it. When you sign up for the CSA program you become a shareholder at Alderlea Farm you get a share of the crop and then every week for 24 weeks you get to go and pick up a bag of fresh bio-dynamic and organic veggies! How cool is that? I highly recommend everyone check out Alderlea Farm.
Today in my bag I got kale, spinach, green onion, turnip, lovage and a sungold cherry tomato plant. I know it’s kind of lame that I get so excited over veggies but I can’t help it. I had never even heard of lovage before but I immediately went home and tried it and it is so good.
To make the day even more exciting we used our new spiralizer for the first time and spiralized some turnip. I have never been a fan of cooked turnip but it is delicious raw!
This is the yummy salad we made using the kale, turnip, lovage and green onions from Alderlea Farms plus some carrot, tomato, cucumber, greens and a fantastic dressing we whipped up with balsamic vinegar, olive oil, garlic, dijon, salt, pepper, and miso…delish!
