Color Blocking

May 31st, 2011 . by Cortnie

{Top Fluxus, Skirt Old, Shoes Footzyrolls, Watch Micheal Kors, Bracelets Blee Inara & Erica Weiner}

ALL FROM CRAVE BOUTIQUE

This is an outfit I wore one day last week when I woke up to sunshine and wanted to wear something bright and fun, but by the time I got to work it was down pouring (the weather here has been so frustrating lately). Luckily the rain stopped for long enough that we were able to get out and get a few pictures. I have had this skirt for a while and totally forgot about it, but came across it when I was unpacking from moving. As soon as I saw it I knew I wanted to wear it with this bright orange top from Fluxus and gold Footzyrolls. I am crazy about color right now and this outfit inspired me to do a post on color blocking that I will be putting up soon.

Hello Dream Closet

May 24th, 2011 . by Cortnie

I was just checking out one of my favorite blogs Stylestruck, when I came across a post Olivia did and I have to share. She linked to this great post on The Coveteur (another one of my favorites) and like Olivia, I am at a loss for words. Take a look at these pictures of Suzanne Rogers closet and you will understand why.

The Alexander McQueen Dresses, shoes and clutches, the pink Chanel bags, can you handle the amazingness?  I can’t! Can you pick a favorite piece? I tried but I can’t decide between the white lace pieces from Dolce & Gabbana and Erdem and all of the Alexander McQueen dresses. If only all of those shoes and purses were vegan.

Right now I am turning one of the bedrooms in our house into my walk-in closet (the walk-in in our bedroom in not big enough) and even tho it will never even compare to this, it has definitely given me a few ideas!

For more pictures and to learn all about Suzanne Rogers click here. And please check out Stylestruck it is a great blog and Olivia is fabulous! I meet her last year at The Crave Symposium and she is super cool and such a sweetheart.

EDIT- Even though I would never purchase any of them I can still appreciate the beauty of the art work. And I have a dream that one day all designers will discover that there are so many fabulous option for making fashion cruelty free.

Easy Breezy

May 21st, 2011 . by Cortnie

This Eryn Brinie top is one of my new favorites. I love the sheer eyelet and lace front, it is just so pretty and yet so cool! As you can tell by my hair it was a little windy last night and when I was looking through my pictures I was wishing I had just taken the pictures inside because it was hard finding pictures where my hair wasn’t completely covering my face, or I wasn’t laughing hysterically. I promise the pictures will get better as I get the hang of this.

Fluorescent Pink

Fluorescent Pink

For a while now I have had a lot of people persuading me to do more outfit posts on my blog and I have been fighting doing it because every time I try to I just feel silly. But after having my arm twisted by a few people today I am going to give in. So please bare with me because I am definitely  not a model.

I bought this awesome fluorescent pink bandeau yesterday from the Bikram Yoga Studio a couple doors up from Crave and I LOVE it so much I had to wear it today. It added the perfect punch of color to my otherwise very plain outfit, plus it looked so cool with my neon nails! I had a really hard time deciding what color bandeau to buy from the ladies at Bikram because they had some many to choose from but after wearing this one all day today I am going to go in and buy a few more because it was so comfortable.

We that’s all for now…I would love if anyone wants to leave any comments on what they think of me doing more outfit posts!

Oh almost forgot, thanks Ashta for being my photographer ;)

Alderlea Farm-CSA

May 17th, 2011 . by Cortnie

Me & veggies

Today was a great day!! Not only was it a beautiful sunny day but I also got to go pick up my first bag of veggies from Alderlea Farm. Alderlea Farm and Cafe is an amazing community farm that grows bio-dynamic and organic food. This is their seventh year doing the CSA (Community Supported Agriculture) program and I am so glad Gary and I got in on it. When you sign up for the CSA program you become a shareholder at Alderlea Farm you get a share of the crop and then every week for 24 weeks you get to go and pick up a bag of fresh bio-dynamic and organic veggies! How cool is that? I highly recommend everyone check out Alderlea Farm.

Veg

Today in my bag I got kale, spinach, green onion, turnip, lovage and a sungold cherry tomato plant. I know it’s kind of lame that I get so excited over veggies but I can’t help it. I had never even heard of lovage before but I immediately went home and tried it and it is so good.

Turnip

To make the day even more exciting we used our new spiralizer for the first time and spiralized some turnip. I have never been a fan of cooked turnip but it is delicious raw!

Yummy salad

This is the yummy salad we made using the kale, turnip, lovage and green onions from Alderlea Farms plus some carrot, tomato, cucumber, greens and a fantastic dressing we whipped up with balsamic vinegar, olive oil, garlic, dijon, salt, pepper, and miso…delish!
